SLGPS Consultation Review – Launch Event

As part of the commitment given in 2015 to undertake a review of the structure of the Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme, the Scheme Advisory Board at the time, agreed to a body of work to be commissioned to support a review.  4 options were finally recommended to Scottish Ministers in May 2017.  In spring 2018, the Advisory Board was given the go ahead to undertake a consultation on a structural review.  The consultation will be launched in mid-June and will be open until early December.

To raise awareness of the importance of the consultation, a seminar will be held on the morning of Wednesday 27 June in Verity House, 19 Haymarket Yards, Edinburgh.  A copy of the programme is attached.

The morning will be introduced by Councillor Alasdair Rankin, current chair of Scheme Advisory Board.  Speakers will include the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Constitution, Derek Mackay MSP, a member of the working group that developed the report to both the Advisory Board and to Scottish Ministers, as well as representatives of the consultants that were commissioned to provide contextual evidence to support the report.

The Scheme Advisory Board is keen to see attendance from representatives from all Pension Funds, Pension Boards and Committees, as well as representatives from Employers, Trades Unions, scheduled and admitted bodies.

As the venue is limited in size, (approximately 200), early notice of your intention to attend is recommended.

Please contact Jonathan Sharma (Jonathan@cosla.gov.uk) and (Kathy@cosla.gov.uk) with details of those attending.  As a light lunch will be available, details of any dietary issues should also be included for all delegates.

The deadline for response is Monday  4 June 2018
